COACH TOSHA DOHERTY

A west Texas girl, who grew up south of Abilene graduated from Jim Ned High School. While at Jim Ned, Doherty played for the highly successful coach Jimmy Avery. His style was different and their success paid off, with each year ending with deep runs into the playoffs. Jim Ned won a State Championship her sophomore year. 

 

Following her graduation from Jim Ned, Doherty headed further west to Texas Tech University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Sport Science and Secondary Education, and a Master of Education in Sport Management and Administration. She began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Wayland Baptist University in 2013. During her coaching career she assisted in helping the Flying Queens receive two National Title bids, and the team broke several school records. After that success, Doherty knew it was time to get into her teaching field. She left there in 2015, and arrived in Georgetown. 

 

Doherty begin coaching cross country, basketball, and track, while teaching Life Science at Forbes Middle School in August of 2015. This began her devotion to the Lady Eagle Basketball program. While her time at Forbes, she had several successful coaching seasons and teaching honors.

 

Currently, Doherty will be entering her first season at Georgetown High School as a varsity cross country and basketball assistant. She will be teaching Freshman English and Special Education.
