COACH KATIE YOUNGBLOOD

Former Lady Eagle, class of 2012, Katie Youngblood comes to the program wielding 6A State Basketball Championship Playoff experience acquired in  her junior year. As a senior, she was named to the First Team All District. Youngblood continued her career at Loyola University in New Orleans where she secured a starting position and still holds the free throw record there. Youngblood graduated Suma Cum Laude with a BA in Business Management from Concordia University in 2016 which she then turned into actual experience at Stripe It Up, a start-up paving company here in the Austin area.

When the opportunity to coach at her alma mater arose, Youngblood dove into the Texas State Teaching Certification with the same tenacity she does most everything else and managed to complete the process in record time. She was not about to let a chance to coach with Rhonda Farney, a woman for whom she has great respect and love , pass her by.  On Monday, July 9th, a very excited  Katie Youngblood was officially offered the freshmen coaching position. She adds this to a list of basketball endeavors which include President of Georgetown’s Little Dribblers for the past two years, President of the Georgetown Lady Eagle Booster Club for the past two years as well as the GHS Varsity team coach for open recruitment weekend. Youngblood’s experience reaches beyond GHS with the creation of the Journey Basketball Program which she helped organize and was heavily involved with in the recruiting process as well as coaching since 2016.

Katie is looking forward to getting  into the classroom and trying her hand at teaching Health as well as working with the GHS track program. Youngblood hopes to coach as well as inspire just as Coach Farney did for her.
