Georgetown’s Lady Eagles, already assured of second place in 25-5A and the district’s second seeding in the state playoffs will close out its regular season on Wednesday and Thursday. The Lady Eagles, currently 10-2 in the district and 20-4 for the season, will travel to Leander (1-9 in 25-5A) for an 8 p.m. game on Wednesday and then move a few miles east of LHS on Thursday for a 6:30 game with Leander Rouse (4-6 in 25-5A). Georgetown claimed the first meeting with Leander, 57-23, on January 2.  Thursday’s meeting with Rouse will be the first and only game between the two schools.  Because of its Covid-19 problems, the Lady Raiders forfeited the first of the two scheduled outings with the Lady Eagles to Georgetown.

Georgetown’s sub-varsity teams have both clinched district titles. Coach Corey Cunningham’s JV is 12-0 in the district and 24-0 for the season. Wednesday’s games were the season finales for the GHS JV and Freshman Blue. Georgetown is also waiting to find out its bi-district opponents — the third-place team from 26-5A.  At the current time, San Antonio Veterans Memorial (10-4) appears to be the front-runner for that position with Kerrville Tivy (9-5) still in the hunt.  Veterans Memorial had a bye in the nine-team district Tuesday, while Tivy fell 34-23 to Boerne Champion. Games Friday will find Veterans Memorial visiting Kyle Lehman and Tivy hosting Dripping Springs. Veterans Memorial and Tivy split their season series.  The Lady Antlers won the first game 29-27 and the Lady Patriots took the second, 40-38. The opening round of the 128-team UIL state playoffs is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 11, through Saturday, Feb. 13.
